Prodeca, the Promoter of Catalan food, has organized the first Online B2B Meetings Focus On Korea & Taiwan, two key markets for the Catalan agri-food sector. It is a set of business meetings in which Prodeca has put a dozen Catalan companies in the Fine Food sector in contact with Korean and Taiwanese importers, mainly distributors and managers of large surfaces.
In the context of the current pandemic and due to international mobility restrictions, Prodeca has proposed this meeting with Asian importers in a way telematics. With the advice of two consultants specializing in destination markets, Prodeca has brought together Catalan companies interested in exporting to Korea and Taiwan with potential buyers, managing virtual meetings and sending samples of selected products from importing companies. In this way, commercial managers can see, touch and taste the food, safeguarding the direct contact of face-to-face meetings and transferring the added value in terms of taste, smell and design of Catalan products.
In total, in the last few weeks they have been organized more than 40 direct meetings between the ten participating Catalan companies and the Asian importers, who had previously been presented with the characteristics of the Catalan agri-food sector. In the case of Taiwan, four distribution companies have participated, and in the case of Korea, four more. During these virtual meetings, technical advisors from local consultancies have accompanied the importing companies carrying out introduction and logistical support tasks.
Nine Catalan companies from the Fine Food or multi-product sector have participated in the first Online B2B Focus On Korea & Taiwan:
- Cudié chocolates
- Spinal cord
- Set & Rose

- Sant Aniol

The Fine Food or multi-product industry constitutes one of the main agri-food sectors in Catalonia. It includes a wide variety of food and beverage categories (dairy, honey, eggs, pastries, confectionery and sweets, coffee, tea and infusions, sauces, ice cream, beer, water, fermented beverages, distillates, canned vegetables, canned fish and seafood, vinegars, fruit preparations, fruit jams and juices) and its differentiation comes from superior quality, an exclusive sales channel, sophisticated and distinctive packaging, and a unique history (origin, person, territory).
with a annual business volume of almost 11,000 million euros a year and more than 1,700 industries, the Catalan Fine Food sector has a very solid and competitive structure. Adding olive oil (which by definition would be part of it but which has its own entity and is treated differently from Prodeca), exceeds €13,000M and 1,900 companies, which represents 50% of the business volume of the food and beverage industry.
