Catalan Foods Take Center Stage in Paris

The Catalan representation in Paris has recently consolidated its importance with the inauguration of the Plaça de la Catalunya in the 14th district. This green space, featuring over 470 trees, makes it the first urban forest in Paris, designed by architect Ricardo Bofill.

On the occasion of the square's inauguration and an institutional meeting to celebrate this new green lung, Prodeca has partnered with the Government Delegation of the Generalitat in France, in collaboration with the 14th District Town Hall and the City of Paris, to organize a festive gastronomic showcase.

The event, held on Saturday, June 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., presented Catalonia World Region of Gastronomy 2025. Attendees had the opportunity to taste numerous Catalan specialties, such as cured meats, cheeses, and sweets, as well as wines from the region, served by the Catalan sommelier based in Paris, Judith Cercós.

The event featured a display of castells by the Geperuts de París and the Moixiganguers d’Igualada. Additionally, there was live music from the Cat Klezmer Trio and a gardening workshop.

France is a strategic market for Catalonia; it is the largest European buyer of Catalan agri-food products. In 2022, it imported 16.73% of the total international exports.

This is due not only to geographical proximity but also to the close collaboration between Catalan and French companies, with commercial agreements and distributors that facilitate the entry of Catalan products into the French market.

Catalan food products have an excellent reputation in the French market for their quality and authenticity. This includes a wide range of products such as cured meats, cheeses, wines, olive oils, and fresh products like fruits and vegetables. French consumers have a strong appreciation for gastronomy and often seek quality and gourmet products.
