Prodeca at the 17th European Week of Regions and Cities
As a partner of the European MD.net project, Prodeca attended the 17th European Week of Regions and Cities, which began with an opening session on 'Regions and cities, pillars of the EU's future', at the European Parliament Hemicycle. Almost a thousand participants were present for the high-level debate on the future of the European Union with Klára Dobrev (Vice-President of the European Parliament), Karl-Heinz Lambertz (President of the European Committee of the Regions), Elżbieta Bieńkowska (European Commissioner in charge of Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs), and five young politicians.
Once again, #EURegionsWeek 2019 provided a unique opportunity to better understand how regions and cities use EU funds to improve the daily lives of their citizens and how the Cohesion Policy can help make Europe greener, more inclusive and smarter. The event brought together 9,000 participants, including some 600 politicians, who will participate in almost 400 sessions, debates, exhibitions and networking opportunities on the various aspects of Cohesion Policy, as part of the 25th anniversary of the European Committee of the Regions.
Around 60 participants attended the workshop, which was organised as a participatory session split into round tables to draw conclusions on common actions based around the Mediterranean diet. The three themes addressed were: knowledge, seeking to shift our current mindset to a more holistic concept in local communities and international markets; governance, to ensure better links between sectoral interests, local planning and transnational strategy, and lastly, brand-building, to foster a common regional brand on international markets.
