Agroindustry is the 1st sector of Catalan industry in terms of business volume. It represents 16% of Catalonia's total GDP and is an important generator of employment. In 2017, Catalonia was the European leader in exporting the agri-food sector to Europe. The Catalan agri-food sector occupies a decisive and strategic weight for the present and future of the country. It is one of the main sectors of the Catalan economy and a leading and reference cluster in Europe.
