THE MEAT SECTOR IN CATALONIA
The meat industry is the main agri-food sector in Catalonia, with a business volume exceeding €10,000M.
It represents more than 35% of the agri-food sector's business volume, 36% of employment, and more than 16% of the number of companies.
The sector is increasingly oriented towards vertical integration as a way to ensure traceability from farm to point of sale, complying with the market's growing demands.

Catalonia is the 2025 World Region of Gastronomy. It has thus become the first European region to receive this distinction.
This recognition confirms the consolidation of an innovative and regenerative tourism model where Catalonia’s gastronomic revolution extends far beyond restaurants, opening doors to exploring the territory and unique local food production.
