Girona Excellence is a food quality seal given by the Girona Provincial Council and Chamber of Commerce with a view to boosting, fostering and disseminating food products of the utmost quality from Girona, both nationally and internationally.
Olive oil has been produced in the Girona region for over 2,000 years. In 2008, Empordà Oil was awarded protected designation of origin status, encompassing the 2,000 hectares of olive groves in the province.
